"Our country has now entered a period of comprehensive development of socialist construction."
At the historic 9th Plenary Meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, the respected General Secretary said that the Korean revolution opened up an era of the comprehensive development of socialism, in which not only national defence but also all the economic and cultural sectors arose simultaneously, the capital and the provinces have changed all together and great changes have been made in the people's ideological and mental aspects as well as in cities, villages, mountains and streams during the term of the Eighth Central Committee of the Party.
True to the main idea and main spirit of the 8th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea on achieving a great fresh victory on all fronts by remarkably increasing our own strength, our internal force, in socialist construction, the Korean people waged an offensive struggle despite severe trials over the past three years, thus ushering in an era of comprehensive development of socialism.
Since the Congress the Korean revolution has opened up an era of miracles in which not only national defence but also all the economic and cultural sectors arose simultaneously.
It is not easy for a country and a nation to develop all fields of state activities including the economy, national defence and culture in a comprehensive and simultaneous way.
Looking back on the past history and the present reality, there are countries which boast rapid growth in a particular field, but there hasn't been even a country which makes all-round and simultaneous development in all fields including the economy, national defence and culture. However, the DPRK has worked a miracle no country and nation in the world could do.
Since the Congress, the DPRK has made remarkable progress in all sectors including economy, science and technology, education and public health as well as the national defence.
In order to defend the sovereignty and dignity of the country from the hostile forces' aggressive moves and create conditions favourable for socialist construction, the DPRK has always attached importance to boosting its defence capabilities. After the Congress, it has waged an offensive struggle to bolster up the tremendous war deterrent with the nuclear force as the backbone.
The test-fires and fire-drills of ICBM Hwasongpho-17 and Hwasongpho-18 were successfully conducted several times to verify their creditability and superiority, and the first reconnaissance satellite Malligyong-1 was successfully put into orbit to raise the strategic strength of the state to a new high stage.
Besides, the reconnaissance drone and multi-purpose drone were developed and the nuclear attack submarine was built and launched. Thus the DPRK demonstrated the full combat readiness and development of its armed forces and brought the national defence capabilities up to a new high level.
A remarkable success was also achieved in the overall national economy, the main front of socialist construction.
The grain production goal which is decisive and predominant in the economic development and the improvement of the people's livelihood was fully attained, so the twelve major goals of the national economic development set in 2023 were successfully carried out with a remarkable production growth in the overall economy.
Compared with the total growth of the economic sector in 2020, the previous year of the 8th Party Congress, the production of important indices largely went up in 2023 by raising the production of iron trioxide 3.5 times, pig iron 2.7 times, rolled steel 1.9 times, machine tools 5.1 times, cement 1.4 times and nitrogen fertilizer 1.3 times and the GDP grew up 1.4 times.
This is a clear proof that the DPRK's economy has already been on a stable and sustainable track of development.
New innovations and changes have been made in science and technology, education, public health, sports and other cultural sectors.
The scientists and technicians of the DPRK fully demonstrated their revolutionary mettle and intelligent intelligence in the struggle to solve scientific and technological problems arising in developing the economy, bolstering up the national defence capability and improving the people's living standard, including the successful launch of reconnaissance satellite by making desperate efforts to conquer the space without fail with their own wisdom and technology.
Also in the educational sector, which guarantees the eternal prosperity of the country and the future of the development and prosperity of the state, they have pushed ahead with the work of remodeling the educational structure that has existed for the past several decades at the full-scale implementation stage so as to provide advanced and practical education to students, with sure progress in improving educational contents, forms and methods and consolidating their material and technical foundation.
During the global health crisis, the public health sector has made a new progress on the principles of advanced, scientific and modern characters and the sports sector has also achieved a great success in which the sportspersons, who took part in international games nearly four years after the outbreak, won many medals and broke the world records one after another.
Indeed, the innovative successes made in all sectors of the economy, national defence and culture since the Congress clearly prove that the Korean revolution ushered in the era of comprehensive development of socialism.
After the Congress, the Korean revolution brought about a new era of prosperity in which not only the capital but also the provinces are transformed.
Construction is the prerequisite for the comprehensive development of socialism and the improvement of the people's standard of living and the long-range work to create a civilized future.
The Congress decided to build 50 000 flats in Pyongyang with 10 000 ones every year while pushing ahead with the construction of flats throughout the country during the five-year plan for national economic development.
It would be unthinkable in the past to push ahead with the construction of flats not only in the capital city but also all over the country under a lot more difficult conditions and circumstances due to the global health crisis and the moves of the hostile forces.
However, the Korean people, who implement the Party's decision without fail, turned out with a firm determination to build modern streets in Songsin, Songhwa and Hwasong areas in the capital city of Pyongyang one after another every year including the luxurious Pothong Riverside Terraced Residential District
And a new magnificent ravine town has been built in Komdok area and a lot of modern rural dwelling houses have been built across the country, bringing great pleasure and joy to the people across the country all the time.
According to the decision of the 4th Plenary Meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, the Ryonpho Greenhouse Farm has been successfully built as a world-class large greenhouse farm, a modern farm whose automation has been put on a high level and a base for creating Korean-style rural civilization, thus making a great contribution to the dietary life of the people in South Hamgyong Province including Hamhung City, an important industrial and scientific city of the country.
In 2024, the Kangdong General Greenhouse Complex was built as a world-class vegetable producer, further advanced in the intensive, optimized and intelligent levels. It is nearly twice the size of project and production capacity of the Ryonpho Greenhouse Farm.
That is not all.
According to the grand blueprint of the regional industry revolution unfolded by our Party, the regional industrial factories in Kimhwa County, Kangwon Province, were built as the ones which were surely at a modern level with highly civilized working and living conditions, thus providing valuable experience in the development of regional industry. As a result, a great revolution has been made to build modern regional industrial factories in all cities and counties across the country.
It is even difficult to count the radical entities sprang up in the capital city and all other parts of the country. Such innumerable creations are a proud epitome demonstrating the era of comprehensive development of socialism ushered in by the Korean revolution to the whole world.
After the Congress, the Korean revolution brought about great changes in the people's ideological and mental aspects as well as in cities, villages, mountains and streams.
The comprehensive development of socialism does not simply refer to such changes as the modern transformation of towns and villages and the enrichment of mountains and streams.
In effect, the development of society begins with the development of man, its master, and the level of development of society is defined by the level of development of man. The comprehensive development of socialism will be accelerated as the ideological spirit and creative ability of the popular masses who are the masters and powerful driving force of socialist construction, are remarkably enhanced.
Since the Congress great changes have been made in the ideological and spiritual aspects of the people.
First of all, the officials, the leading personnel of the revolution, were further tempered ideologically and spiritually, cultivated their traits and qualifications greatly, overcoming difficulties, and embodied the traits of devoting the considerable efforts to implement the Party's policies with a high awareness that they would take full responsibility for their fields before the Party.
The large ranks of patriots with the warm mind to think first of the Party, revolution and country and to be helpful to the country to relieve it of its difficulties have grown up in the course of the vigorous mass movements such as the patriotic movement of donating cereals and the movement for donating warships and a large number of young people have volunteered to work at major worksites of socialist construction and fully display the spirit and mettle of the young vanguard.
Such proud reality eloquently proves that the Korean revolution ushered in an era of comprehensive development of socialism in which rapid progress is made in the ideological and spiritual aspects of the people as well as the visible successes.
It is by no means good conditions and environment which has opened up an era of comprehensive development of socialism.
It is a brilliant fruition of the great revolutionary idea and seasoned leadership of the respected Comrade
