Devotion to the Development of Regional Industry in Changsong County

President Kim Il Sung said:

"The regional industry should be developed."

At the Changsong Joint Conference held in August 1962, President Kim Il Sung indicated ways concretely to develop local industry into a higher level than ever before keeping up with the conditions in which the economic foundations of the country were consolidated and the people's living standards were raised. He also gave on-site guidance to the local industry in Changsong County several times after the joint conference for its realization.

On June 28, 1963, he visited the textile mill in Changsong County and said that the cloth manufactured in the mill, which were woven with bittersweet and hemp, was good in their durability but not in variety. He gave important tasks to boost production by increasing the variety of cloth and making good use of local manpower.

In August 1966, he visited the foodstuff factory in Changsong County and gave precious instructions on the issue of adding apple juice to sweets so that it has flavour, the issue of raising more cows to provide milk for production and the issue of improving the flavour of biscuits. He also visited the paper mill and furniture factory stressed to produce high-quality notebooks for students and improve the quality of products.

On August 9, 1970, he visited the meat-processing plant in Changsong County, even though he was busy preparing for the Fifth Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea, and gave instructions that people should use the refrigerator to be provided with rich supply of non-staple foodstuffs all the year round. When visiting the iron-works, he did so on the shape of products, the quality of plating and the brand and packing of the products.

Thanks to the wise guidance of President who turned Changsong county into a model for making a fresh leap forward in our regional industry through his on-site guidance of the area, great changes have been brought about in our regional industry.
