We Should Learn from the Juche-Oriented View of Aesthetics and Fashion of the President

It is an inherent tradition and image of socialist Korea that the spiritual and moral traits of the people resemble those of the leader.

However, the establishment of the socialist system does not necessarily mean the high level of people's spiritual and moral traits.

Enobling spiritual and moral traits of the people can be guaranteed only under the correct leadership of the leader.

Chairman Kim Jong Il saw to it that all the people learn after the noble traits of the President Kim Il Sung ranging from his outstanding ideology and theory, seasoned leadership and noble virtue to ennobling character and simple life.

Here is the story how Chairman Kim Jong Il ensured people learn after view of the President.

Chairman Kim Jong Il said:

"We should learn from the great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung's Juche-oriented views on aesthetics and fashion."

In general, the aesthetic view is the perspective on things you see, perceive and evaluate, and the fashion outlook is the taste in clothes, lifestyle, which determine the spiritual and moral traits of people.

That lies in the ennobling traits of the President is Juche-oriented aesthetic view and fashion outlook.

Availing himself of the opportunity when he met an official of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea on March 16, 1987, Chairman Kim Jong Il gave instructions on learning after the Juche-oriented aesthetic view and fashion outlook of the President.

That day, he looked back upon the time when an official showed President the clothes for his new suit for his 75th birthday.

Hearing from the official that the cloth was the world trend, the President said that it meant that he should follow the world trend which was not right. He continued to say that the world trend should follow him, not that he should follow it.

In fact, President had never worn elegant clothes in the days when he was growing up in Mangyongdae or when he fought against the Japanese imperialists on Mt. Paektu.

He did not like dandy clothes.

When he was studying at Changdok School, he wore a school uniform made of black cloth, army uniform in the days of the anti-Japanese armed struggle and the Fatherland Liberation War, and later simple clothes woven in our country.

Chairman Kim Jong Il went on to say that all the people should follow the idea, taste and habit of the President, adding that the Korean people do not like luxury from olden times, but tidy and clean, and that the beauty he favored was simplicity and purity the President liked.

Indeed, the officials were deeply impressed by the ennobling spiritual and moral traits of the President as they heard Chairman Kim Jong Il.
