 2026.10.6.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said:

"General Kim Jong Il was a great leader, a peerless patriot and the benevolent father of our people, who devoted his all solely to the country's prosperity and the people's happiness with absolute loyalty to the great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung and warm affection for his country and people."

Chairman Kim Jong Il always cherished the country and the people in his mind and made patriotic devotion.

He devoted himself to the country and the people all his life, so his revolutionary career was embroidered with revolutionary anecdotes that touched all people to their emotion.

Among so many of his anecdotes that become the great revolutionary history of the peerlessly great man and the proud history of our country is a significant story telling the world of his outlook on the people, love for the people and an unforgettable revolutionary anecdote that he received with pleasure a simple letter from the ordinary farmer.

It was July, 11, 2001.

That morning Chairman Kim Jong Il visited face-lifted Poman-ri, Sohung County, along the dewy village road and dropped by the house of an ordinary farmer.

Caring about the housekeeping of the farmer's family as much as a father does for his children who became independent, he even went into the kitchen.

He said that it would be better if they could cook using electricity in such a good house because the power station had already been built, and that they ought to have been benefited from a newly-built power station.

The farmer couple, who was enjoying a happy life in a wonderful house of a new picturesque village, said to the fatherly General, who was so concerned about their cooking to be done with electricity, "General, we are satisfied with this house. There wouldn't be a house any nicer than this one in the world!".

However, Chairman Kim Jong Il said that it was not enough and that it would be better if they could do the cooking using electricity. And he warmly continued that they should write to him if the electrification was completed, thus making it possible to use electricity for cooking.

After Chairman Kim Jong Il's visit to the village, the electrification project was carried out again, and two months later the farmer couple wrote a letter to him with the feelings of gratitude and pleasure, which said that they could live in good conditions where they used electricity for cooking, heating and so on.

But how could they know that their simple letter would give such great pleasure to him?

Amid his busy days of leading the revolution, Chairman Kim Jong Il read their letter and sent a reply to them, which said that he was glad to hear the good news.

There are countless stories of great men in the history of mankind.

But we can never hear such a touching story as that of a great man, Chairman Kim Jong Il, who continued his forced march to visit the people all his life, and who, despite the cold and hot weather, visited factories and rural areas without any rest, reading even the simple letters from the people and sending them his autographic reply letters.

Indeed, he was the great leader who found his greatest happiness in the people's happiness and who had the determination that he had no other desire if the country was prosperous and the people were better off to enjoy themselves. That is why all his work was for the people and his mind was filled with the concern for the people.
