The Area of My Motherland is to Get Wider

It was stressed in the tenth plenary meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea that it is important to step up tideland reclamation and increase the area of crop land by finding more reclaimable land.

It is the manifestation of our Party's noble patriotic will to settle the problem of food supply for people and hand down a vast fertile land to the coming generations by laying out at any cost strong foundations for agricultural development by our own efforts in the near future.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said:

"Steady efforts should be made to reclaim tideland in order to bring new land under the plough, and various other methods employed to increase the area of land under cultivation."

Only when there is plenty of rice, can the people's food problem be satisfactorily solved and the building of a powerful socialist country be vigorously accelerated.

In order to steadily increase grain production, farming should be put on a scientific and technical basis to increase unit-area yield, as well as acquiring more land that can be brought under cultivation.

That is why our Party has always directed great efforts towards reclaiming tidelands and finding new land from the outset of nation-building.

President Kim Il Sung personally became a pioneer to open a new history of tideland reclamation on this land and solved the problems arising in the tideland reclamation, visiting tidelands despite boiling summer days or Sundays when all the people were off work.

He also stressed the need to conduct a wide campaign to find new land whenever he had a chance, and gave on-the-spot guidance to farm fields to set forth the ways for the farms to get rich while teaching them to increase agricultural production to by actively finding new land for the plough.

It is attributed to the painstaking efforts of the President to solve the problem of food for people by increasing the area of land under cultivation by even an inch and, thus, raising grain yield that the map of the country was remarkably redrawn.

Chairman Kim Jong Il conducted a historic land rezoning to transform the land of the country handed down by the President as befits the land of socialist Korea, and to expand the area under cultivation in the country.

Thanks to the patriotic devotion of Comrade Kim Jong Il, who visited Taebaek-ri in Changdo County, Kangwon Province as a beacon of land realignment and continued his journey to the land realignment sites including the far corners of the country despite snowy or windy days, small patches of fields handed down through centuries were transformed as befits the lands of a socialist state.

It is the noble patriotic will of the respected General Secretary to turn the socialist land into a thriving people's paradise true to the will of the great leaders.

Under the wise guidance of the respected General Secretary, the construction of the unprecedentedly large-scale Honggondo Tideland, Sections 3 and 4 of Ryongmaedo Tideland and Ansok Tideland has been completed within the last decade, thus bringing a lot of new land which has been transformed into the wonderful base of the great socialist farmland.

The area of my country is to get wider as a people's paradise true to the patriotic ideas of the peerlessly great man that all the people should take control of even the sky and the land with their patriotism to transform the country into a better socialist paradise.
