The respected Comrade
"Indeed, Comrade
One day, decades ago, an official who visited the house of President
Everything there ranging from the wooden doorknob to the wardrobe, bookshelf, chair, and other furniture, as well as lampshades, was the ones he could see from any house of the country.
On his way to the house of the President, the official had never imagined that his house would be that humbly furnished.
The shock was so great at that time that the official told him that his house seemed too humble for the leader of a country to live in.
With a bright smile on his face, the President said that his house didn't need to be that big and luxurious and that house was large enough for him to live in as compared the one that normal people lived.
The official was so overwhelmed with excitement.
At that time, the first-stage apartment houses in Changgwang Street were being built in Pyongyang, followed by Chollima, Ragwon and Munsu streets, and the second-stage project was also nearing the completion.
The official told the President again that the people could live in good houses now, so it could be possible to furnish his house with better appliances and furniture.
Then the President said that he did not want to use better things than the people, that the living standard of our people was not so high yet, and the financial situation of the country was not sufficient, so he felt that it was not appropriate for him to live in a bigger and luxurious house. He continued that the ordinary furniture, appliances, clothes, shoes and dishes made in the country were the best for him and he felt enough with them.
No country and era have ever seen such a great leader who lived an ordinary and humble life till the last moment of his great life with a lifelong motto "Believing in the people as in Heaven".
