Happiest ever with farmers

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said;

"Comrade Kim Il Sung's was a noble life of a people's leader, who regarded ‘The people are my God' as his motto, applied it to his ideas and leadership and turned it into reality."

President Kim Il Sung was a benevolent fatherly leader of the people who devoted his all to providing the people with a happy life. He always believed in the people as in Heaven, and it was his motto in his lifetime.

The President made strenuous efforts to provide the people with better and more convenient living conditions. He particularly made heartfelt efforts and painstaking efforts to free the farmers from hard farm work in the soonest possible time, which we still remember.

One day in October 1974, while inspecting the farms in Sukchon County, he acquainted himself with detailed farming situation, and dropped in at the threshing ground of a workteam of a farm.

After watching the threshing ground carefully, the President asked officials about the operation efficiency of the rice combine harvester and threshing conditions in detail. An official who had accompanied him noted that it was already past lunchtime and he should have lunch soon.

But the President said that he didn't feel hungry as he was in the fields. Then he wanted to listen to the farmers about the pros and cons of the rice combine harvester.

At that time it was lunch time, so no farmers could be found around the threshing ground. His entourage suggested that the President should meet the farmers some other time.

He felt rather unsatisfied and looked around the field, when he saw a woman feeding at the hencoop and sent for her.

He had an open-hearted and frank talk with the woman farmer at the edge of the paddy field. He said that we just started to use machines in harvesting and threshing, that farming was still too much labor-consuming and assured her that in the future we would introduce a lot of farming machines to relieve the farmers' onerous toil.

He listened to the woman farmer's opinion about the rice combine harvester for a long time and told the officials that they should accept those opinions and it was important to realize the comprehensive mechanization in local regions as soon as possible to free the farmers from their back-breaking labour.

Looking at the endlessly stretching farm plain, the President warmly said that he felt happiest when he was with the farmers, and he wished he had a shelter house there to share it with the farmers and talk with them whenever he came here.

The officials were deeply impressed, looking up to the President who had been discussing farm work with the farmers in the strong direct sunlight ignoring the meal time to free the farmers from their laborious toil as soon as possible.

That day the President worked overtime in his field guidance, missing his lunch.

Indeed, the President was a benevolent father of the people who voluntarily became the commander of the agricultural front to free the farmers from hard farming labour and settle the basic issue of the people's food problem.
