Teaching New Soybean Farming Method

 2026.9.1.

President Kim Il Sung put his heart and soul into developing the country's agriculture in order to solve the food problem for the people.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said:

"Comrade Kim Il Sung was a great revolutionary who devoted his all to achieving the victory of the revolution by displaying infinite loyalty to the revolutionary cause."

President Kim Il Sung who made painstaking efforts for the development of the country's agriculture also provided energetic field guidance on a farm in North Hamgyong Province.

During his field guidance over all affairs of the province, he himself visited the then Pongam Cooperative Farm in Kilju County on March 8, 1959, despite the chilly weather.

He shook hands with each of the farm officials who came to greet him and proposed visiting farmers' dwelling houses first, before heading for them before others.

After a while, he stopped in front of a house, opened the kitchen door without reserve and entered the house to learn in detail about the living conditions of the household.

Seeing that there was not much bean paste in a jar in the kitchen, he discovered the acute problem of bean paste for working people and, furthermore, the very important and urgent problem of soybean production.

That day he himself called officials and active farmers of the farm to the office of the management board of the farm to convene a consultative meeting and learned in detail about last year's farming, especially the per-hectare yield of soybean.

After acquainting himself with the soybean farming situation of the farm, he took note in his pocketbook and said that when he had visited the countryside during the anti-Japanese armed struggle, he had seen farmers making bean curd when their in-laws or welcome guests came and serving the food to them. He added that North Hamgyong Province is famous for bean curd.

Saying that soybean grows well in Kilju and Myongchon, he set a new goal for boosting its per-hectare yield and told the participants in plain word the soybean farming method in detail from seed treatment in the sowing season to the space between seeds and manuring.

As he taught them the new promising method of soybean farming, they were all struck with admiration and expressed their great joy.

The farmers, who hit upon a good solution and were filled with confidence that they would be able to do farming well, turned out as one to carry out the assignment given by the President.

Therefore, the Pongam Cooperative Farm achieved remarkable growth in soybean output after one or two years and gradually accumulated experience in soybean farming.

Indeed, President Kim Il Sung was the great father of the people who always found himself among farmers and devoted his all to the country's agricultural development, sharing weal and woe with them all his life.
