The Heart-Warming Story of a Sightseeing Flight

Today, in the blue sky of socialist Korea, sightseeing planes fly carrying people from all walks of life, fulfilling them with delight and optimism.

It is associated with the warm love for the people of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un who gave the guidance to widely organize various forms of tourism and create a Korean-style tourist industry suited to the full-fledged dignity and might of socialist Korea.

Chairman Kim Jong Il said:

"‘The people are my God' is the motto of Comrade Kim Il Sung and mine, as well as of Comrade Kim Jong Un. Comrade Kim Jong Un infinitely respects the people, warmly loves them, and devotes his all for their wellbeing."

One day in July, 2015, at an airport on the coast of the East Sea of Korea, the respected General Secretary was giving precious instructions on the affairs of the then General Bureau of Air Koryo. That time he told the senior official of the General Bureau to organize tours by plane.

With ardent love for our people and the country and firm faith in victory in the war, President Kim Il Sung made sure that the sanatoria and rest homes were restored and run even in the days of the hard-fought war and that the pleasure grounds and parks were built well in a far-sighted way, and organized sightseeing flight over Pyongyang for our people in the postwar days when the situation of the country was so difficult.

The respected General Secretary, who cherishes the desire of President Kim Il Sung for believing in the people as in heaven, stressed the need to organize sightseeing flight in conformity with the principle of the activities of the Workers' Party of Korea which gives top priority to making selfless, devoted efforts for the good of the people and regards it as absolute, adding that the people will cherish national pride and honour more deeply when they see Pyongyang, the capital of the revolution, being newly changed day by day during the flight.

One day, the respected General Secretary, who made a simulated flight along the route set by the General Bureau with the flying training equipment, said that the course was not set properly, adding that it should be set so that the planes could fly over Pyongyang to give a bird's-eye view of the city which is changing beyond recognition day by day, and more routes, such as from Pyongyang to the West Sea Barrage and from Pyongyang to Mt. Kuwol, should be set so that the people can enjoy the beautiful natural scenery of the country to their heart's content.

Thanks to the ardent love and affection for the people of the respected General Secretary who called for widening the sightseeing flight route, the sightseeing flight routes included not only Pyongyang the capital but also the West Sea Barrage, Mt. Kuwol and other famous scenic spots.

Afterwards, the respected General Secretary gave detailed instructions not only on the composition of the flight but also on its organization, on the issue of ensuring that the internal and external management and maintenance and inspection of the aircraft were conducted properly so as not to show any shortcomings, and on the issue of providing the people with traditional foods and famous dishes after the flight.

Thanks to the noble outlook on the people of the respected General Secretary who regarded selfless, devoted service for the people as his unshakable creed, a wide-ranging tour was opened in the sky of the DPRK and a sightseeing plane carrying the people flew into the blue sky for the first time on November 8, 2015.

The tour flight helps many people to have a better understanding of the proud reality of socialist Korea and the world envies the Korean people who lead civilized cultural lives.
