If it is What the Great Leader Wants

 2026.7.7.

President Kim Il Sung said:

"Comrade Kim Jong Il makes every effort and carries out whatever he thinks is needed for the country and the people. In particular he spares no effort to do things I wish and to solve the problems of my concern so that he can give me pleasure."

Chairman Kim Jong Il is the highest model of loyalty who gave pleasure to President Kim Il Sung by unconditionally and successfully realizing what he wished.

It is well known from the fact that he gave pleasure to the President by bringing about a fresh turn in the film production in the first half of the 1960s.

Regarding the development of cinematic art as a main link in the development of the overall art and literature in this period, President Kim Il Sung gave several instructions on the production of new films. In particular, on 11th March 1963, he said that many films should be produced and televised, and that 20 films should be made that year, some of which should be excellent.

Visiting the Korean Film Studio on the 5th of June, 1963, Chairman Kim Jong Il said that the President often asked if there were any new films made by the Studio, but it had produced only a few films in the first half of the year. And he clearly analyzed the main reason why the film production was not going well.

Noting that the main task facing the cinematic artists today is to make a lot of films which truthfully depict the communists who are boundlessly loyal to the President, he earnestly said that the Studio should concentrate efforts on one or two works that depict human life in a broad and profound way as models and generalizing their experience so as to bring about a fresh turn in the film production.

He continued to clarify in detail the issues arising in bringing about a fresh turn in the film production, including the issue of firmly arming the authors and artists with the revolutionary idea of President Kim Il Sung and thoroughly establishing the Party's ideological system in all creating activities, the issue of decisively intensifying skill training among the novelists and artists, the issue of ensuring the proper equipment and materials for the film production and the issue of enhancing the technical and functional level of the officials who would handle them.

The officials, novelists and artists made 17 films in the second half of the year, which was an unimaginable success. Furthermore, they created such successful works as Korean feature films "The Spinner", "Red Flower", "Zinnia", "New Generation" and "The Son of Good Earth" (Part 1 and 2) depicting the heroes of the Chollima era, thus were honored to be highly appreciated by the President on January 1, 1964.

The officials, novelists and artists of the studio continued to work hard to repay the high trust of the President and, in 1964, produced many excellent films that were loved by our people, including Korean feature film "The Son of Good Earth" (Part 3) and "My hope is endless".

After all, the successes in the film production in 1963 and 1964 were unprecedented in the history of the cinematic art of our country in the past and this was entirely a precious fruition of the wise leadership of Chairman Kim Jong Il who made great efforts to solve the problem desired by President Kim Il Sung.
