"Love for the younger generation is the most devoted and dynamic kind of human love; it is the purest and most beautiful of all paeans dedicated to humanity."
President
It was a winter day at the close of 1963.
The Political Committee of the Party Central Committee, reflecting the unanimous desire of all the Korean people, decided to recommend a rest to President
He left Pyongyang for North Hwanghae Province for holidays that had been put off for long years because he could not refuse their recommendation at that time.
When the car passed through a mountainous village in the province, he was satisfied with the threshing ground, where crop harvest was in full swing at the last moment, and suddenly he saw young pupils who were not wearing overcoats in the cold weather.
He told an aide to stop the car, called the children and warmed their hands. And he asked them carefully which school they were going to and whether they were cold or not on the way to school.
When he returned to his lodging place that night, he could not sleep but repeated what he had seen – our children were playing outside without overcoats in such a cold day.
At a consultative meeting of officials concerned in the province held the next day, he said that he had come to North Hwanghae Province for about ten holidays, according to a decision of the Political Committee of the Party Central Committee, and visited some counties and that he could not relax because the children were not wearing even winter clothes.
All the participants could not raise their heads, feeling guilty for making him put off a few holidays he had been offered, who devoted his all only to the happiness of people and the bright future of the growing children.
He returned straight to Pyongyang to hold the Political Committee of the Party Central Committee, put forth ways to solve the clothing problem for children and students in rural areas and gave his personal guidance to the production of clothes. Thanks to his warm love, all the children in rural areas received padded clothes free of charge in a short period of a month.
He was a benevolent father of the Korean children who wanted to pick a star from the sky and find pearls even in the sea, breaking down a large mountain for them.
