We Should Continue to Put into Effect the Motto of the WPK

Today under the wise guidance of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, socialist Korea is making great progress in the work to bring about a new era in which the provinces change, true to the "Regional Development 20×10 Policy " set forth by the Workers' Party of Korea.

Such successes would have been unthinkable without the immortal exploits of President Kim Il Sung who had put forward a clear motto for improving the living standard of the local people and made sure it could thoroughly be carried out.

President Kim Il Sung said:

"We should continue to put into effect thoroughly the motto of our Party to make good use of mountains in mountainous regions as well as the sea in coastal regions."

From the early years of his leadership, the President had led the work to continue to put into effect the motto of the WPK "Make good use of mountains in mountainous areas as well as sea in coastal areas" in order to improve the living standard of the local people.

This motto of our Party reflected his noble intention to improve the living standards of the local people by making effective use of the good natural conditions and reserves in local cities and counties.

On January 5th, 1959, when socialist cooperativization was successfully concluded and preparations were being stepped up for building the foundations of socialism, President Kim Il Sung delivered a report "On the Victory of Socialist Agricultural Cooperativization and the Future Development of Agriculture in Our Country" at a national conference of agricultural cooperatives.

In his report, the President said that the WPK has long since emphasized the need to make good use of mountains in mountainous areas and the sea in coastal areas, and that the motto of the WPK should continue to be put into effect further in the future.

In his speech at a consultative meeting of officials of the Party, government organs, local industrial factories and agricultural cooperatives in Sakju County, North Phyongan Province on July 29th, 1960, he said that it was the requirement of the WPK to make good use of mountains in mountainous areas and improve the people's living standard in coastal areas by making good use of the sea, and gave detailed tasks for it.

The vitality of the motto was clearly proved through its practical implementation in Changsong, Sakju, Pyoktong of North Phyongan Province and other local areas, demonstrating that people's living standards could be markedly improved in reality.

Indeed, the immortal idea and exploits of the President who put forward it as the motto of the WPK to make good use of mountains in mountainous areas as well as the sea in coastal areas will shine forever along with the great era of Comrade Kim Jong Un.
