Today the disabled people in the DPRK are leading a happy life without any worries under the benefits of the people-centred socialist system.
This is a proud fruition of the Workers' Party of Korea's policy of protecting the rights of the disabled, which is run through with warm love for human beings.
The socialist system of the DPRK is, first of all, the most superior social system in which the Party and the government are fully responsible for the life of the disabled.
First, the socialist society of the DPRK makes sure that characters of the disabled are respected and their rights and interests are guaranteed to be equal to those of healthy people in all fields of social life.
In the DPRK, the disabled people exercise their socio-political rights to their heart's content just like healthy people, the state organizes working life according to the degree of disability, sex, age and constitution, thoroughly ensures working conditions and provides all conditions and environment for them to enjoy cultural and emotional life to their heart's content according to their wishes and demands.
In addition, under the socialist society of the DPRK they prevent the outbreak and aggravation of disability, and regularly investigate the situation of the disabled, which contributes to the improvement of health of the disabled.
The DPRK is intensifying the treatment and prevention of various diseases which are the main cause of the outbreak of disability, conducting brisk hygienic and anti-epidemic work and propagation campaign to prevent and eliminate the causes of the disability, and preventing the outbreak and aggravation of the disability caused by social factors by preventing all sorts of accidents including traffic accidents and labour accidents.
In the DPRK, power organs and medical institutions in relevant areas regularly investigate and control the situation of the disabled people. Accordingly, medical institutions and relevant institutions organize treatment of the disabled people in a thoroughgoing way to ensure that they fully benefit from the universal free medical care system. They organize specialized or comprehensive rehabilitation and research institutions in areas needed for rehabilitation of the disabled people and conduct research activities related to the rehabilitation and the cause and outbreak of the disability.
The DPRK has established educational institutions for disabled people everywhere, legally protecting and caring for them, and fully developing their talents.
Under the benefits of the grateful socialist system, people with disabilities receive school education and graduate from universities with the hope of life, and develop their talents to their heart's content through dynamic art and sports activities.
The Workers' Party of Korea and the government have systematically increased investment in the sector of guaranteeing the rights of the disabled to strengthen its material and technical foundations, steadily improved the living environment and conditions of them, and are intensifying exchange and cooperation with other countries in the sector of guaranteeing the rights of the disabled people to thoroughly ensure their rights.
Next, the socialist system of the DPRK is a superior social system which legally guarantees all the rights of persons with disabilities.
To fully guarantee the rights of the disabled by law is an important requirement to eliminate all social inequality caused by disability and enable people to free themselves from the worry about disability and lead a free and happy life.
The Socialist Constitution stipulates that all citizens have the same rights in all fields of state and social life. It even clearly states that those who have lost their working ability due to illness or physical disability have the right to receive the state's material assistance. This right is guaranteed by the free medical care system, the ever-increasing medical facilities including hospitals and sanatoriums, the national social insurance and social security system.
The DPRK government adopted "Law of the DPRK on Ensuring of the Rights of the Disabled" at the 9th Session of the 14th Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK on September 27, 2023, which founded legal system to ensure the right of the disabled.
The DPRK set June 18 as the Day of Persons with Disabilities and has intensified the work to protect the disabled better in society and support their rights. Every December 3, International Day of Persons with Disabilities, they conduct several activities.
In addition, all the disabled people enjoy genuine life and happiness with the same rights as healthy people in the DPRK thanks to various laws and regulations related to the rights of disabled people including the Law on the Protection of Rights of Children, Law on Common Education and Law on Social Insurance and Security.
All these clearly prove that the socialist system of the DPRK, which regards it as the policy of the Party and government to make the disabled fully exercise their rights which are due for equal members of society and guarantees them by law, is the cradle of genuine life and happiness of the disabled.
The system ensuring the rights of the disabled people of the DPRK, which trusts the disabled people as the creators of a beautiful history, leads to numerous anecdotes of affection.
Thanks to the people-centered socialist system, the people with hearing disorder, mental or physical disorder at the Pyongyang Exchange Office of Disabled People displayed their artistic skills as high as those of professional artistes playing the accordion and kayagum in cities of different countries, and there are even table tennis players who won the first place in the international competition to make national anthem of the DPRK be played and the flag of our republic fly high.
Recently, a girl with hearing disorder played the accordion singing the song "We Are the Happiest in the World" expressing her happy and optimistic life touched the hearts of all people.
Today, the DPRK conducts various sports and cultural activities including the art performance of disabled people and the table tennis contest of disabled people and amateurs on a regular basis every year to make their life full of optimism and enthusiasm and thoroughly guarantee the rights of disabled people.
The system of guaranteeing the rights of disabled people in the DPRK has become everlasting legendary tale of human love unprecedented in the world, demonstrating its vitality.
