Among many stories about Chairman Kim Jong Il's love for Korean young people is an anecdote on the first youth day in the early 2000s.
He arrived at a railway station in Jagang Province on a sultry hot day in the late August.
The senior official of the provincial Party committee implored him to have a rest even for a second.
But Chairman Kim Jong Il said that he was all right, and they must be more tired rather than himself. And then he proceeded.
The official said that today is the Youth Day, hoping that Kim Jong Il, who is always devoting himself to the country and the people without self-care, would take a rest even for a bit.

Recalling the merits of the young people in the construction of the Youth Hero Motorway, Chairman said that the heroic efforts of the young people who had built a wonderful motorway in a short span of time with their bare hands longing for their leader, was a true picture of how steel was tempered in the new 2000s.
The great love and care of Chairman bestowed on the young people on the unforgettable Youth Day is still cherished in the hearts of the young vanguards greeting their Day.
Indeed, Chairman Kim Jong Il is the true father of all the Korean youth who loves and trusts them, guides them step by step on their course to be reliable successors to the revolutionary cause of Juche.
