An embassy, as a part of a country, represents motherland for the officials, family members, foreign students and compatriots working and living abroad.
In Warsaw, the capital of Poland, a Korean-style building reflecting the excellent architectural style of the Korean nation is standing in its shape. This is the building of the DPRK embassy.
When a unique architecture of Korean national style with the national flag of DPRK raised on its roof was built in the centre of Warsaw which had a history of hundreds of years, the diplomats from different countries who took part in the inaugural ceremony admired the building of its beauty and the national character of Korean people.
This wonderful architecture was built under the meticulous guidance of the President amidst his busy schedule during his foreign visit. He personally looked at the architectural design and led the building of the embassy to be built wonderfully as a Korean-style building and with national characteristics alive.
However, few people know the fact that every detail about the building is associated with the President's love and devotion to the convenience of life of our citizens living abroad and their longings for the homeland.
The respected Comrade
"Indeed, Comrade
One day in May Juche 73(1984) President visited Poland.
He paid close attention to the building of our embassy in Warsaw, even though he was busy on his schedule, and personally sent for the representative who was in charge of the construction there.
To the official who was explaining the plan in details, the President said that the embassy premises should be well-established.
As a matter of fact, the construction workers were not paying much attention to the convenience of the people who would be using the building, and their only concern was for the appearance and internal structure of the building, for it was an embassy representing the dignity of the country.
The President said that if we were to live in a foreign country for a long time, there were not one or two inconveniences due to the exotic climate, and the different language and customs of life, and that only when we had a good garden, could our people stay in good condition while walking with their families in the mornings and evenings.
While correcting the officials' mistakes, the President gave detailed instructions on how the garden should be paved and where outdoor stools should be laid.
The President said that if possible, the metal fixtures and furniture should be home made, and that only then would the comrades living in there always feel as if living at home and remember the spirit of the motherland, and that even if we built a house, we should inspire the emotion of the country.
He said that the air-conditioning facility was only expected in one or two rooms, and said that no matter how excellent the conditions were, it was no better than home, and that they should build the building with disregard of cost so that it would not be inconvenient to our comrades who were abroad.
Like a mother who cares more for her child who is away, the President made a great devotion to the welfare of the people who are living abroad far away from home.
He even gave thought to the living conditions of children who would be living in the embassy.
The President emphasized the need for the sports facilities and said that the children here should play to their hearts' content like in the homeland and that we should provide enough conditions for their physical training so that they could get easily adapted to the local climate to keep fit.
Saying that children issue should not be neglected in building of the embassy, the President saw to it that the children's room was furnished in a practical and educational way considering the room structure and the number of children to attend the nursery and kindergarten.
He was indeed a great people's leader who loved children most.
Keeping the fatherly love of the President in mind and upholding his noble will, the officials built the embassy building as a wonderful building which was not only aesthetic but also convenient.
