Leading the Party Construction and Activities to Maintain Independence

 2025.10.7.

The immortal title of the Workers' Party of Korea, which is leading the world socialist movement, with the pride in the longest history of leading the socialist power, is shining more brilliantly along with the sacred exploits of President Kim Il Sung, the great master of independent politics.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said:

"Comrade Kim Il Sung was a pre-eminent and seasoned leader of the revolution, who wrote a new chapter in modern history and added brilliance to it by leading our revolution along an ever-victorious road under the banner of independence."

At the historic Kalun meeting, President Kim Il Sung advanced the original policy of founding the party by relying on the Juche-oriented revolutionary forces of one's own country and in conformity with the specific conditions of the country, and indicated a new path for independent party building and activities in the history of the international communist movement.

In the firm belief that it is unreasonable that we cannot do as Marx and Lenin did, who founded parties without the approval of others, and that the party building and activities in Korea belong to the sovereignty of the Korean revolutionaries, wherein the issue of approval and ratification of the Comintern cannot even arise, President wisely led the revolutionary parties of the world as well as the WPK to invariably adhere to the principle of independence throughout the whole period of his revolutionary leadership.

Among those many stories is the one that tells us how he clarified the precious guidelines for party building and activities with the saying that there should not be higher and lower parties in the world nor there can be a father party and a son party.

One day in June 1975, Tito, the leader of the then Yugoslavia, met President Kim Il Sung, who was paying an official goodwill visit to the country, and was deeply envious of the DPRK's advance with a high degree of courage. And he told the President all his woes, saying that he was making all his efforts to build self-governing socialism in opposition to hegemony but he was suffering from various pressures and trials.

The President told him that each party should arm its members with its ideology and policies but should not follow the policies of other parties blindly, and that when a person turns to flunkeyism he becomes an idiot; when a nation takes to flunkeyism their country falls into ruin, and when a party acquires flunkeyism it makes a muddle of revolution and construction.

And he stressed that there should not be higher and lower parties in the world and there can be no a father party and a son party.

Deeply impressed by his instructions, Tito made up his mind to adhere to independence firmly in party building and activities, looking up to the great leader.

Afterwards, too, the President taught on many occasions that many communist and workers' parties aspiring after socialism should maintain independence.

The immortal revolutionary exploits of President Kim Il Sung, the pioneer of the era of independence, will be cherished in our hearts all the years after, along with the history of the heroic struggle of the Workers' Party of Korea and the Korean people dynamically advancing along the road of socialism under the banner of independence and the struggle of the progressive mankind for building a new independent world.
