The Workers' Party of Korea is the party of working people regarding it as its mode of existence to make selfless, devoted efforts for the good of the people.
It is the immutable supreme principle of the WPK, which devotes its all to the people and spares nothing for them, to take full responsibility for and constantly improve their living.

Its important policy in improving the people's standards of living is to raise all people's living standards in a balanced way. A society in which all people, not a few people or a particular stratum, are equally well-off is an ideal one the WPK wants to build up.
The main point in improving the people's standards of living in a balanced way in the socialist society is to eliminate the differences in living standards between industrial and office workers and farmers and in living conditions between different regions, which is, in essence, a matter of improving the living conditions and environment of rural residents up to the level of urban residents and achieving the balanced development of different regions so as to evenly raise the living standards of the people all across the country.
Since the initial period of its founding, the WPK has always set it as a task of the utmost importance to improve the material and cultural living standards of the people and, in particular, has been paying close attention to eliminating the differences between urban and rural communities and the interregional imbalance in people's living since the establishment of the socialist system.

In the course of implementing the rural theses and embodying the spirit of the Changsong Joint Conference, a radical turn was brought about in the life of farmers in the DPRK, and foundations were laid for actively developing the regional economy by making good use of mountains in mountainous areas and seas in coastal areas.
To meet the requirements of the new historic era aspiring after the overall development of socialism, the WPK has set forth and is pushing forward with more concrete and realistic policies for the balanced improvement of the people's living standards throughout the country by achieving balanced and simultaneous development of the whole country.
The Fourth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the WPK in December 2021 put forth the programme of the rural revolution in the new era for modelling the whole countryside on the Juche idea and finally solving the rural question by making it well-off.
The news of moving into new houses in rural areas which is being reported in succession and the looks of agricultural workers dancing merrily in front of large grain stacks clearly show the happy life of the farmers of the DPRK, whose standards of living improve day by day.
The WPK's regional development policy also reflects its firm will to eliminate the centuries-old backwardness of regions and radically improve the living standards of the regional people so as to remove the differences between the capital and the provinces and build a paradise of the people where all of them equally thrive.
It is the steadfast stand of the WPK and the DPRK government that there may be differences between regions in geographical setting, resources, economic potentials and living environment, but there should be no backward region in the aspect of the people's living.
As the WPK only pursues policies for the people while giving top priority to the promotion of the people's welfare, irrespective of favorable and unfavorable conditions, the Korean people call the Party their mother, loyally follow it and devote their wisdom and passion to implementing its policies.
Thanks to the outstanding and seasoned leadership of the ever-victorious WPK and the patriotic struggle of the Korean people, who faithfully support the cause of the Party, the best paradise in the world where all the people lead a happy life will surely be built on this land in the near future.
