"In his long revolutionary career President Kim Il Sung took responsibility for the destiny and future of anyone with whom he had come into comradely relations, and protected them to the last, holding all the revolutionary soldiers in his embrace and bestowing great trust and love on them."

One day in January Juche 42(1953) a heroic merit of a soldier was reported to the supreme command.

The report was about a soldier who fell unconscious after blocking the enemy gun muzzle to open the road of advance of the unit in a raid to strike the enemy on Height 565.7.

Having been reported about this, President immediately issued an order of love to save him at any cost.

Emergency treatment measures were taken in accordance with the order of President. After receiving first-aid treatment, the soldier was taken to the field hospital where military doctors and nurses worked intensely day and night to treat him.

At last he came to himself after intensive treatment.

The soldier was told about the warm affection and solicitude of the fatherly leader, who was so concerned about his recovery, and he made up his mind to repay the deep warm affection of President to the last of his life.

From that day on, he did his best to recover keeping the pain of his wound under control with strong will.

His wound became better and better day by day.

President Kim Il Sung often made phone calls to enquire about his recovery and sent able military doctors for his treatment. He even sent valuable medicines and presents to him through the people's delegation dispatched from Pyongyang.

Thanks to the great love and solicitude of President, he got better day by day and finally he was recovered enough to run.

At last the day came when he was to leave the hospital.

On one day in June Juche 42(1953) when he was staying in a soldiers' guest house in Pyongyang for a while after leaving the hospital, an officer from the supreme command told him that President wanted to see him.

He was very surprised to hear that and stepped into the car being at a loss what to do.

Before he knew what was happening, the car arrived at a cozily furnished house. He was guided by an officer into the room, where he was honored with the audience of the President, whom he was so eagerly wanted to see.

President embraced the soldier, who was going to give him a military salute, and said that he had fought a good battle and that he was very pleased to meet him.

President Kim Il Sung felt his wound and asked him in a concerned tone if the touch of the wound was painful.

Looking at the soldier who was too moved to answer, President Kim Il Sung said that he looked not good enough yet and that he should be fully recovered. President told him to go back to the hospital and continue to go through the treatment and promised to meet him again after he got healthy. He saw the soldier off out of the gate for a long time.

From that day on, the soldier tried hard to recover his health with the earnest mind to meet President as soon as possible.

According to the daily schedule fixed by the army surgeons, he had a rest cure, climbed woody mountains and tempered his body on iron bar and parallel bar.

One day, he was sent for by President Kim Il Sung again.

When he got off the car, President saw him through the window and signaling with a wave to come in.

President Kim Il Sung took the hand of the soldier, who was trying to give a military salute, and told him to have a seat. President said with a bright smile that as he looked much better then, they could have a talk offering the soldier to smoke a cigarette.

The soldier felt so gracious that he said he did not smoke. But President Kim Il Sung told him to feel free to smoke saying that he had found, on his visit to the front, that soldiers liked cigarettes very much and personally offered a light.

He said that he had heard about him through radio and newspapers praising his bravery. He went to the map on the wall and pointed at the point with a color pen where he had fought the battle and told him not to forget the land he had defended at the risk of his life.

President went on to inquire of the place where he was born, and of his parents and his career with fatherly affection. He told him to be faithful in carrying out his task at any circumstances so that the days when he had been exploited and oppressed would not be repeated.

The soldier answered that he would fight with a rifle in his hand until the whole country was completely liberated. President said it was a very good idea and kindly awakened him as he would expostulate his own children that he should study to work better in the future.

After a while, he looked at his watch and told him to have lunch together personally having him seated close to him. President kindly offered him to help himself several times.

After finishing lunch, President repeatedly told him to study hard and bestowed the presents of love on him.

Afterwards, the soldier studied hard as instructed by President and returned to his revolutionary post to record brilliant track of his life.

Indeed, the affection and benevolence of President for a soldier of the People's Army was the elixir of love that cured his vanishing life and the source of an encouragement for him to exalt his life as a true soldier loyal to the leader to the last moment of his life.
