On May 8, 1957, workers of the then Kim Chaek Ironworks were waiting for President
When he arrived at the factory, all workers ran to him, raising their hands and shouting "Hurrah!".
He approached them and asked about their health. He suddenly tried to shake hands with one of them. But the worker hesitated because of his dirty hands. But he took the hand of the worker and asked him if they could produce 250,000 tons of iron. President
He was going to a coke oven, when a young worker stood in front of him and requested him to look at their tapping, saying that they could produce molten iron in 30 minutes. In fact, about one hour was left until the tapping. But for him, who was busy with state affairs, one hour was very valuable. So other workers didn't dare to request.
But the young worker told him the earnest feelings of all workers.
With a hearty laugh, he valued his request and stopped the officials heading for the coke oven, saying that they should wait for 30 minutes.
So the workers hurried the tapping to finish it in 30 minutes. Looking at the workers, he kindly told them not to be in a hurry, worrying about an accident and said that he would wait for 30 minutes. And he told the officials to provide more labour protection supplies to the workers who worked in hot places, feeling sorry for the fact that they were working in such a hot place.
