Great love associated with Samhung Secondary School

Chairman Kim Jong Il said:

"From the first days of building a new society, regarding education as one of the important tasks decisive of the prosperity of the nation, the great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung has firmly maintained the principle of giving precedence to the education of the rising generations ahead of other work."

Education is an important undertaking to bring up the rising generations to be reliable pillars for building a socialist powerful nation, and it is one of the fundamental issues which decides the rise and fall of the nation.

The past history clearly shows that the prosperity of the country and nation can't be achieved without the education which guarantees the future of a nation.

We are witnessing the eye-opening reality in which the dignity and prestige of the DPRK has been put on the highest level in the history of the nation and the precious successes are being made on the basis of national independence and self-respect. It is unthinkable apart from the wise leadership of President Kim Il Sung who advanced and successfully applied the Juche-oriented idea and theory on socialist education.

The wise leadership of the President is also deeply associated with the Samhung Secondary School.

On October 28, Juche 34 (1945), President Kim Il Sung visited Taedong County and instructed to build the school and train our rising generations to be the pillars of the country.

On that day, hearing an official say that he would devote his all to the education, the President said that the future of the country and the nation depends on the new generations and that nothing should be spared for the education for the rising generation. And then he personally chose the site of the school and gave detailed instructions on the problems arising in the construction and operation of the school.

He also instructed to solve the problem of drinking water for the students, choosing the site of the well and pointing out that water should be lifted by a pump, not a bucket.

And shortly afterwards he sent trucks, lathes and water pumps to be used for the construction of the school.

On November 22, Juche 34 (1945), President Kim Il Sung met the officials who completed the preparations for the school opening and came to see him with pleasure. He instructed on enhancing the role and qualifications of teachers in the education and took measures to solve the textbook problem.

The President said that an important issue in the education for the new generations is to ensure that the students are knowledgeable, morally impeccable and physically fit, and only when they acquire ample knowledge, a good moral character and good health, can they become reliable pillars of the country and the country prosper.

The President, who had been lost in thought for a while, named the school "Samhung Secondary School", which he meant they should bring up the talents who are knowledgeable, morally sound and physically fit and develop the country. Thus Samhung Secondary School took the first step with the meaningful name personally made by the President.

In this way, the President gave definite precedence to educational work in spite of all difficulties immediately after liberation and clearly indicated the way of bringing up the youth and children to be future revolutionaries, reliable reserves of the Party and the new people of a new era with intellectual, moral and physical integrity.
