Today, in Juche Korea, amid the surging patriotic enthusiasm of all Korean people under the wise leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea, the growing valuable patriotic minds of the millions of schoolchildren are encouraging their parents' struggle and contributing to the prosperity and development of the country.
The respected Comrade
"Children's Union members should not become self-indulgent sons and daughters who seek only their own happiness, but young patriots who, cherishing
Among the proud members who met the respected Comrade
Kim Jong Suk County now has more than 1 000 hectares of pine-nut tree forests which have been reported as one of the pride of the county.
The pine-nut tree forest which greatly helps the county's economic development and the improvement of the people's standard of living is warmly associated with the patriotic traces of teachers and students of the Phungyang Senior Middle School which began decades ago.
In socialist Korea where mountains cover a large area of territory, forests are a valuable resource of the country and an important means for protecting the land and developing the economy. Therefore, it is a noble patriotic undertaking to ensure the eternal value of the country to turn the mountains of the country into golden and treasurable ones through vigorous tree planting.
Due to the importance of afforestation, President
True to the instructions of the President, they planted and cultivated more than 10 hectares of pine-nut trees in Phungyang Middle School(then) every year like all schools across the country. In 1976 the area of pine-nut tree forests increased to 180 hectares, and they could pick the first fruit.
They chose the first fruit associated with their precious patriotism and presented the President with 3 tons of pine nuts.
Busy as he was with state affairs, the President personally met the teachers and pupils of the school who brought pine nuts on October 22, 1976, highly appreciated their deeds, showed loving care to be conveyed down through generations and presented benevolent gifts to them.
The teachers, pupils and their parents made a pledge of loyalty to devote their lives only to repay for the love the President who gave them gifts, pleased with the ordinary work to be done by anyone living on this land.
They set a goal of creating 1 022 hectares of pine-nut trees in commemoration of October 22, the significant day when they were granted an audience with the President, and devoted their all to afforestation for decades.
They did not merely planted and cultivated more pine-nut trees, but fostered patriotic mind and inherited patriotic spirit of the members of the Children's Union of the preceding generations.
That's why the teachers and pupils of the school carefully harvested pine nuts from the huge pine-nut trees that grew tall as the members of the Children's Union of the previous generation did, and planted and tended young pine-nut trees with sincerity in the mind of carrying on their patriotic spirit.
As a result, the area of pine-nut forest in Phungyang-ri, which had been 180 hectares when they presented pine-nuts firstly to the President, was over 1 022 hectares, and the school had the honor of presenting tens of tons of pine-nuts, selected carefully, to the President, the Chairman and the respected General Secretary.
In 2023 the teaching staff and pupils of the school chose pine nuts harvested at the Children's Union Forest. When the pine-nut was sent to Pyongyang, all the teachers and pupils of the school and villagers turned out to see it off. And when the news that the pine-nut gave pleasure to the respected General Secretary again came to the school, the teachers, pupils and parents were deeply moved with the pride and honor of firmly carrying forward the patriotic tradition of the KCU members of the previous generation.
Along with the pine-nut tree forest of over 1 000 hectares, the tradition of patriotism was steadily carried forward generation after generation.
The masters of the "pine-nut tree school" are now enjoying themselves with legendary tales of love they received on the New Year's Day, and they are now leading their days with enthusiasm to pick more pine nuts and give pleasure to the respected General Secretary.
As one seed makes thousands of flowers, such patriotic deeds of the Korean children are now the kindling of the flames of patriotism among the members of the Children's Union across the country, and the ranks of genuine young patriots who do good things for the country are increasing day by day.
The future of the DPRK is bright and rosy as it has such a large army of children patriots who are devoting themselves to the building of a prosperous powerful country, aware that they have a fair share of patriotism before their little ages.
