History has witnessed many great persons who regarded love for the younger generation as a virtue, but it was only President
The respected Comrade
"Comrade
On December 21, 1969, on Sunday, when every others were having a day-off, he visited the then Changjon Middle School in Pyongyang with an aim to train the younger generation, the future of the country, into reliable pillars of Juche Korea.
As they came to meet him, whom they had wanted to see even in dream, the teachers and students of the school ran to him.
Being delighted to meet them, he asked how old they were, what their parents' jobs were, and then asked if they had ever enjoyed a camp life.
Hearing their reply that they had not been to a camp, he told officials that a wonderful schoolchildren's camp should be built that year as there was no such a camp in Pyongyang.
Then he said that if the pupils went for mountain hiking with knapsacks and walking sticks, they would be in high glee, that Mt. Ryongak and Mt. Taesong would be good for a day's climbing and Mt Myohyang for a week or ten days and, therefore, camping should be arranged accordingly, thus taking measures for the children's camp with care.
After a while, he said that there would be many things they did not know if stayed at home during their vacation, adding that they could rest at home for 20 days and go on a study tour in good places for the remaining ten days.
The teachers and students of the school were moved as he had a cosy school built so that the children could learn to their hearts' content, and now visited their new school on Sunday to take care of the students so that they could learn a wide and deep knowledge.
As a result, visits and study tours to factories, enterprises and scenic spots across the country and camping in Mt Myohyang were arranged for the schoolchildren from next year.
Indeed, his affection for the younger generation was the most devoted and warmest, crystallization of pure and beautiful affection to be handed down forever in the history of mankind.
