Warm-Hearted Affection for an Ordinary Artist

One of the moving stories in the immortal revolutionary history of Chairman Kim Jong Il who wisely led the development of Juche-oriented art and literature of the DPRK is about his warm loving care for O Hyang Mun, a Kim Il Sung Prize winner and People's Actor, deeply etched in the hearts of the Korean people with his unique art of narration.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said:

"General Kim Jong Il trusted his revolutionary comrades as he would do himself, loved them and bestowed on them all the affection he could."

One day in February 1991, Chairman Kim Jong Il met the officials and actors who had distinguished themselves in the field of art and literature.

He always regarded Korean artistes as eternal companions, faithful assistants and good advisers of the WPK and bestowed warm love and affection. Chairman Kim Jong Il warmly welcomed them with a bright smile, saying that it had been a long time since he last met them.

Looking at the acquainted faces, he recalled the old days when he was giving guidance to the sector of art and literature, adding that they were unforgettable comrades who were loyal to the Party.

He then saw O Hyang Mun and his daughter. Chairman Kim Jong Il called them to his side.

Looking at O Hyang Mun's grizzled hair, he kindly asked his age.

Hearing that he was 70, Chairman Kim Jong Il recollected the time when O Hyang Mun had been taken to hospital for cardiac disease eight years before, and inquired about his health.

O Hyang Mun replied in a rueful manner as he caused anxiety to the Chairman who was burdened by state affairs, and earnestly requested him not to worry about his health.

Chairman Kim Jong Il was relieved to hear that Mr. O got over his illness, and told his daughter to take good care of her father. Then the Chairman asked her about the preparation for her father's birthday party.

Hearing that everything was going well, he gave a warm smile and promised to give a grand birthday party for Mr. O.

O Hyang Mun, with tears, could hardly repress the swelling emotion with a deep sense of gratitude for his loving care.

The Chairman said he would spare nothing for such a brilliant actor as O Hyang Mun.

Not long after that, O Hyang Mun celebrated his birthday thanks to Chairman Kim Jong Il.

This is just one out of many stories which tell the fatherly love of Kim Jong Il for the Korean artistes.

Such a touching story is unique to the DPRK where people hold Chairman Kim Jong Il in high esteem as their fatherly leader who spared nothing for the good of the people.
