The national reunification was the life-long cause and ardent desire of the great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung

The great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung whom we greeted and acclaimed for the first time in the history of five thousand years, is the eternal Sun of our nation and the lodestar of national reunification. He devoted all his life for the prosperity and development of our nation and our country and for the sacred cause of national reunification and achieved immortal exploits.

The great leader Comrade Kim Jong Il said:

"The great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung strongly desired and worked hard all his life for the reunification of our country. He was unhappy more about the national sufferings caused by national division than about anything else, and took all the pains and put his heart and soul into the cause for national reunification till the last moment of his life in order to hand down a reunified country to posterity."

The great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung cherished the national reunification as his life-long desire and made all his efforts regarding it as the biggest present for his countrymen.

One day in January, Juche 66(1977), when the great leader was giving a spot-guidance on an area, he read some documents about national reunification and called the officials concerned to his side.

It was a historic time when there was a new upsurge in the movement of national reunification in response to the three principles of national reunification and 5-point program proposed by the great leader.

The anti-reunification separatists in and out who were alarmed by the strong trend for national reunification resorted to the moves more viciously to stop the movement of national reunification and to perpetuate the national division. As the days go by they ran amuck to perpetuate the national division and provoke another war while resorting to the "two-Koreas" persistently.

In order to overcome the prevailing difficulties flexibly and promote the cause of peaceful reunification, the great leader convened a joint conference of political parties and social organizations in Pyongyang that year and advanced a new proposal for national reunification. The document that the officials presented to him was an important one to realize his plan and will to convene the joint conference.

The great leader taught the officials all the problems in documentation in detail including making clear the main idea and strengthening the appealing character. He said that the document should be consistent in the idea that Korea must not be two countries but the reunified one and he emphasized it was the most important problem. And looking around the officials he stressed over again that the main idea and the main point should be focused on frustrating the "two Koreas" plot and aspiring towards reunification.

Looking up solemnly to him, the officials were full of admiration for the fatherly leader, who had devoted himself to hand down a reunified country to the countrymen.

On a April 15th, when unanimous blessings of all the countrymen and progressive people were brimming over, the great leader said that the only thing that weighs on his mind was that he failed to realize the desire of the countrymen to enjoy the happiness together in a reunified country. He went on to say that reunifying the country was not only the common cause of our nation but also his firm resolution before the nation. On one of his birthdays when his comrades and people offered him a toast he couldn't comfort himself to enjoy that drink with only the compatriots in the north, leaving the counterparts behind in the south.

In his restless days, he sometimes spent sleepless nights wishing that he would allow himself to sleep sound and rest if the country were united and sometimes he devoted himself for national reunification even on his birthdays.

In those historic days there recorded the moments of joy on October 10th in Juche69(1980), when the great leader advanced the proposal for founding the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo in the Sixth Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea to make all the countrymen excited. It was the immortal exploit for the cause of national reunification based on the independence, peaceful reunification and the principle of great national unity and it was also a historic event which advanced the most reasonable and realistic way to national reunification and developed the movement for national reunification even further.

The great leader put forward the right way to founding a reunified country and one national state by advancing the proposal for founding the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo. This is the most realistic proposal for reunification based on one nation, one state, two governments and two systems, thus to mark a turning-point in the national reunification.

The program for great national unity-the 10-Point Program of the Great Unity of the Whole Nation for National Reunification--is also the demonstration of the fatherly leader's foresightedness and the decision from his patriotic intention. How great the achievements of the great leader who devoted all his life to the cause of reunification are!

When we look back upon the sacred life of the fatherly leader who devoted everything to national reunification to the last moment of his life, we recall the immortal autograph, which touches our minds dearly.

The fatherly leader was indeed the great Sun of Nation who devoted all his life for the fatherland and people and the lodestar of national reunification who devoted himself till the last moment of his life to give our fellow countrymen a reunified country.

The immortal exploits of the great leader for national reunification are succeeded by the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un today.

Now that we have the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, the father of our nation as our leader, the life-long cause of the great leader is sure to be achieved and thus our fellow countrymen will enjoy happiness and prosperity in the reunified country with the high dignity of Kim Il Sung nation.
