Kim Il Sung University International Symposium-2018 Held

Kim Il Sung University International Symposium-2018 held in the e-library and school building No.3 from Sep. 26 to 27, 2018.

Presented at the symposium on the theme of 'Development of Science and Improvement of Welfare of Mankind' were the scholars of universities and research institutes from the DPRK and many other countries including China, Russia, Mongolia, Indonesia, Germany, France, the UK, Italy etc.

On 26 Sep. the participants presented flower baskets and bouquets of flowers to the bronze statues of the great leader comrade Kim Il Sung and the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il on the Ryongnam Hill.

There was an opening ceremony in the 200－seat lecture hall in the e－library.

Presented here were Kim Sung Du, Chairman of the DPRK Education Committee, Thae Hyong Chol, President of Kim Il Sung University and Minister of Higher Education, Ri Guk Chol, First Vice-president of Kim Il Sung University, Ri Won Sob, President of Pyongyang Medical College of Kim Il Sung University, Ye Zingyi, Party Vice-secretary of Peking University, Wu Fulai, Party Vice-secretary of Renmin University, Gui Yonghao, Vice-president of Standing Committee of Fudan University, Yadmaa Tumurbaatar, President of National University of Mongolia, Lin Zhehao, Vice-president of Yanbian University and distinguished scholars from Kim Il Sung University and other countries from all across the world.

Thae Hyong Chol, President of Kim Il Sung University and Minister of Higher Education delivered the opening speech.

He, in his speech, extended his sincere gratitude to the distinguished scholars from foreign institutes of higher education and scientific research for their active involvement in this year's symposium with their friendly feelings towards the DPRK and Kim Il Sung University.

Noting that the international symposium on the theme of 'Development of Science and Improvement of Welfare of Mankind' opened at Kim Il Sung University, the highest institution of Juche education and science, he emphasized that the symposium should help the scholars forge cooperative relations and exchange already-achieved sci-tech successes and abundant experiences.

Convinced that the symposium will serve as an important occasion in achieving significant successes for the scientific development of the world and promotion of the human welfare and further strengthening the relations between Kim Il Sung University and the educational and scientific institutes from different countries of the world, he declared the opening of the symposium.

Next, Kim Sung Du, Chairman of the Education Committee, delivered a congratulatory speech.

He mentioned that he was very pleased that the international symposium was held again at Kim Il Sung University, which was the highest institute of science and education in our country following the grand celebration of victors of the 70th founding anniversary of the DPRK, which was leading the situation of the world and the region to peace and security.

He continued to mention that true to our Party's intention of building a scientific and technical power nation and a talent power nation, numerous achievements had been being made by putting great efforts to strengthening the forces of education and science and its material and technical foundations and the visibly changed appearance of the university within a few years' time and the happy life of the professors and researchers, living in Ryomyong Street were good examples.

He convinced that active exchange and close cooperation among the scholars from across the world with their rich scientific and technological achievements and experiences will surely bring benefits to the development of science and technology and the promotion of people's welfare in each country.

Next, Gui Yonghao, Vice-president of Standing Committee of Fudan University, Yadmaa Tumurbaatar, President of National University of Mongolia made a congratulatory speech.

Saying that Kim Il Sung University has given the fullest play to the high quality of their scholars and to the determination to fulfill their responsibility for the scientific development of the world, they hoped that the university will lead the van of the world with the highest overall sci-tech capability in near future.

The symposium was held in many sections including economics, politics, history, literature, linguistics, forest science and ecological protection, medical science and life science and so on.

A lot of papers were presented in the symposium such as 'Independent and sustainable development of economy in the DPRK', 'China 'The Belt and Road' and the construction of regional cooperation between China and Korea', 'Idea of the Workers' Party of Korea of giving importance to science and technology and its vitality', 'Adhere to the People-Centered Research Orientation', 'Recent international issues in Northeast Asia ', ' Minimally invasive surgery for esophageal cancer', 'The green city and innovative urban agriculture' and so on.

The symposium closed on the 27, Sep. 2018.

Thae Hyong Chol, Prisident of Kim Il Sung University, delivered a closing speech.

Next, they had the letter to Kim Jong Un, Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK read and all the participants gave a big applause.

The university welcomed the participants with a welcoming party during the symposium.
