Great Care for a Biologist

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said:

This story is about President Kim Il Sung's great care for a biologist who was working at Kim Il Sung University.

President Kim Il Sung paid deep attention to the development and education of biology, attaching special importance to the its role in the development of the national economy.

The President, who had always paid special attention to Kim Il Sung University since its foundation, visited the biological exhibition while giving on-the-spot guidance to Kim Il Sung University on October 11, 1947.

Looking round the specimens exhibited, President Kim Il Sung learnt that many of them were collected by Won Hong Gu, a patriotic biologist. He appreciated the biologist's efforts and warmly took his hand, encouraging him to gather more for the students and people in the future, too.

On April 1952, in the middle of the war, President Kim Il Sung visited Kim Il Sung University in Paeksong-ri, Sunchon County, and again met Won Hong Gu, who was studying animals and making specimens for education, and appreciated the old scholar's efforts. And not long after celebration of the great victory in the war, the President gave him a hunting gun as a gift.

Moreover, on July 1, 1955, the President visited Kim Il Sung University again to drop in at the then Academy of Biological Sciences and met Won Hong Gu.

This time the President gave him a new car as a gift as the old biologist couldn't hunt without a car.

Won Hong Gu blurred his eyes with tears, deeply touched by the loving care by the President.

After the foundation of Kim Il Sung University, President Kim Il Sung would always send rare animals and plants to the university for education and he paid great efforts for the development of the country in the field of biology.

And he appreciated an ordinary biologist's work of specimens with loving care.

This story is not just about love for Won Hong Gu, but it reflects the President's boundless love for all educators and scientists of Korea. His loving care was not just for biologists of Kim Il Sung University, but for the development of national science.
