Faculty of Philosophy

The mission of the Faculty of Philosophy is, as a leading educational centre of philosophy, logic and psychology for the whole country, to train specialists in Juche philosophy armed with great Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism and contribute to development of social science.

It was formed by merging the philosophy department and psychology department, which had been part of the History Faculty, in Juche50(1961). It was incorporated into the Law Faculty in Juche69(1980) and was separated again in Juche69(1980).

The Faculty of Philosophy has eight departments, which include the Department of Fundamentals of Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism, the Department of Juche Philosophy, the Department of History of Philosophy, the Psychology Department, the Logic Department, the Department of Ethics and Aesthetics and the Department of Applied Sociology.

It offers courses in Juche Philosophy and Psychology.

Juche Philosophy

The main subjects include Works of Comrade Kim Jong Il and Comrade Kim Jong Un, Fundamentals of Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism, Juche Philosophy, Psychology, Logic, Ethics, general psychology, management psychology, Counseling psychology, History of Korean Philosophy, Tonghak, History of Logic, History of Marxist-Leninist Philosophy, dialectical materialism, History of Eastern Philosophy, History of Eastern Political Ideas and Psychological Measurement.

The Faculty of Philosophy has a staff of ninety lecturers and researchers including one candidate academician and thirty Doctors of Philosophy. Thirty of them are professors and associate professors.

It has about 600 students.
