For Creating a Model Stockbreeding Farm

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said:

"We should maintain the principle of placing the people's demands and interests before anything else, making selfless, devoted efforts for the good of them and resolving all problems by believing in and relying on them."

In his New Year Address for Juche 108 (2019), the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un clarified the orientation and tasks for developing stock farming so as to provide the people with more meat and eggs.

Thanks to his efforts to open up a new history of development of stockbreeding and provide the people with a large quantity of meat, Boer goats native to South Africa were introduced to the DPRK and spread in the country.

Deeply regretting that the people were not supplied with a sufficient amount of meat, he personally studied technical materials on stock farming in foreign countries. On the basis of this he took measures for bringing in the Boer goats, a high-yield species, into the country and creating an up-to-date stockbreeding base.

On the early morning of May 20, Juche 102 (2013), he visited a construction site in a remote area, where a large up-to-date base for breeding Boer goats and other high-yield species of grass-eating animals and sending them to other parts of the country was being built at his suggestion.

Visualizing the future of the base which would proactively promote the development of the country's stockbreeding industry, he clarified the objectives for different stages of the project and tasks for their implementation.

He looked round all the extensive project site, giving detailed guidance. Though lunchtime had already passed, he headed for the last corner of the valley where Boer goats were kept.

The place was far away from the main project site and the road to it was so rugged and narrow, barely enough for oxcarts to pass, that few officials concerned had visited it. But he, saying that he must see the Boer goats, too, when he was visiting the project site, drove his car to the place.

Looking at the goats, he said with a hearty laugh that he wondered if they knew how much he wanted to supply the people with more meat on a regular basis as soon as possible.

He took the officials of the stockbreeding base with him during his field guidance so as to help them have a better understanding of the biological features of the Boer goats and the methods of raising them.

He said to the accompanying officials who showed concern over his health as he had been working so long in the scorching sun: You said that you had wanted to show me the base after it was completed, but it would be pointless if I visited it when it is completed; only when I visit it when its construction is under way, can I solve the knotty problems in time and suggest methods for improving its construction; I intend to visit all the places of the country, no matter how rugged the road to them may be and no matter how dangerous they may be, just as the great General did throughout his life for the good of the people and service personnel; if I take only good roads and visit well-laid-out places alone, we can never provide our people and service personnel with an abundant life at any time.

On October 8, Juche 102 (2013), four months later, he visited the project site again. Looking round it, he said with satisfaction that now a prospect for supplying more meat to the people and service personnel had been created.

Then he stressed the need for the base to perfect the techniques of creating pasture and methods of raising Boer goats and disseminating them across the country, furnish the base with all necessary cutting-edge equipment, improve the quality of construction work, study the methods of processing goat meat and thus take the lead in implementing the Party's policy on stockbreeding.

When the base was built, he was so pleased that he visited it again. Looking round the base, he said with a broad smile on his face: Another socialist paradise has been built in this remote mountainous area and it is really a sea change; herds of goats grazing here and there is quite a sight; now we have created a central vanguard base for implementing the Party's policy on changing meat with grass.

Saying that we must realize as soon as possible and at any cost the great leaders' life-long wishes to provide the people with sufficient amount of meat and it was his unshakeable determination to unfailingly implement their instructions on changing meat with grass, he had made painstaking efforts to breed Boer goats and other high-yield domestic animals that produce tasty meat and spread them across the country so that the people could enjoy the benefit from them. Indeed, the modern base was a fruit born of his ardent love for the people.

In the world there is no such a great leader of the people like him who, concerning himself with the food problem of the people, created a model stockbreeding base and personally studied the methods of raising animals.

Thanks to his strenuous efforts to develop the country's stockbreeding industry onto a new high so as to realize the great leaders' desire and the people's dreams and ideals, the Boer goats have spread across the country.
