Yu Chol Jun

Yu Chol Jun was born in Kumgang County, Kangwon Province on October 12th, 1975. He entered Kim Il Sung University in 1992 after secondary school. After finishing the undergraduate course in 1999 and postgraduate course later, he became a lecturer of the university in 2003.

He is a winner of the February 16th Science and Technology Prize of the DPRK, and a winner of the 2018 National Top Scientist and Technician Prize.

He got a doctor's degree in 2012 for his dissertation "Atomistic Simulations for Material Processes within Multiscale Method".

He lectures on several subjects including Materials Design Engineering and Applied Quantum Mechanics.

He has authored many textbooks and reference books including Quantum Theory of Multiple Particles, Applied Quantum Mechanics, Theory of Electromagnetic Structure of Material and Calculation Method, Simulative Experiment of Material.

He took a doctoral course in the Faculty of Material Engineering in Ahen University of Technology, Germany, and got a DSc degree in material engineering for his dissertation "Atomistic Simulations for Material Processes within Multiscale Method" there.

In June 2016, he was nominated as a member of the organizing committee for Asian Conference of Advanced Materials Science organized by International Association of Advanced Materials, and at the same time as a member of International Association of Advanced Materials (IAAM). He became a Fellow of IAAM in November 2021, a Fellow of Royal Society of Chemistry in UK in December that year, and a Fellow of Vebleo in August 2022.

He has attended more than ten international science conferences including those held in Germany and Brussels from 2006 to 2009 and Training Course on Clean-Energy Application Technology for Developing Countries, held in Changsha, China, in December, 2017.

He was invited to address the 5th Thomas Young Center Energy Materials Conference held in London, UK, in 2018. He delivered fellow's lectures in international science conferences of advanced materials organized by IAAM in 2021 and 2022, and was invited to work as a member of its scientific committee.

More than 70 of his papers were published in Science Citation Index magazines including "An efficient virtual crystal approximation that can be used to treat heterovalent atoms, applied to (1-x)BiScO3-xPbTiO3" published in Journal of Physics: Condensed Matter of Institute of Physics, Royal Society, UK. He has peer-reviewed over 70 papers as a referee of dozens of scientific journals such as Nature Energy, Journal of Physical Chemistry Letters and Physical Review B.

He has supervised tens of dissertations including six doctoral dissertations.
